4th and 5th grade students participated in an Outdoor Leadership after school club to learn important outdoor skills. They focused on Leave No Trace, how to pack a backpack, shelter, navigation and wilderness first aid. The final day of the club put all of their new skills to the test when students used a compass to locate a campsite, set up a shelter and simulated a wilderness first aid scenario. And what would a camping trip be without a fire and some hot chocolate?! (Fire permit obtained from the local fire department)
